Lord Philip Hammond

The Rt Hon Philip Hammond led four departments of the UK government over nine years and rose to the second most powerful job in the UK government. He served continuously in the UK cabinet from 2010 to 2019 (one of only three people to do so,) serving under Prime Ministers David Cameron and Theresa May. He  was Secretary of State for Defence from 2011 to 2014, and then served as the United Kingdom's Foreign Secretary from 2014 until 2016. He further served as Chancellor of the Exchequer from 2016 to 2019. He also held the position of Secretary of State for Transport.

Before entering Parliament in 1997, Lord Hammond had a wide-ranging business career in various sectors, including healthcare, oil and gas, and real estate in both the UK and Europe. Lord Hammond advises companies such as Copper and FMA, which helps governments outside the UK save money, improve services, and build lasting capabilities. He also sits on the advisory board of the Global Strategy Foundation.

Lord Hammond holds a degree in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics from University College, Oxford.
